What is Proto-Mind?
A native macOS app that brings AI conversations, project memory, files and voice into one workspace. It is the first product from VIRENCORE.
What do I need to run it?
An Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer), with macOS 14 or later. The portable beta includes Python and Codex. The app interface is currently in Russian. The beta still awaits Apple notarization and a test on a second Mac.
Does it use my ChatGPT subscription?
You can sign into your own ChatGPT account with Codex access. Available models and usage limits depend on that account. Text tasks do not need an API key. Live voice uses your own OpenAI API key and is billed separately.
Can it work with files and control my Mac?
When you explicitly enable Mac access, Codex can work with files and commands. Screen control additionally requires the signed Computer Use helper from Codex Desktop and its macOS permissions. That helper is not included in Proto-Mind.
Where does my data go?
Conversation history and saved memory are stored on your Mac. When you use cloud models or voice, relevant text, audio and selected context are sent to the provider. Local Ollama models are also supported. You choose when to enable cloud processing.
Is it ready for everyone?
It is an early beta. Source code is available under Apache 2.0; the portable installer is being prepared for public release. Expect rough edges. This version does not have automatic updates.
